A Color swatch presents options as solid color samples. Shoppers can see the available colors and select one without interpreting only a text list.

The swatch is a selector, not paint applied to the product photo. To show the whole product in the selected color, connect the Shopify option and configure Product views.

How to set it up

  1. Choose Add → Choice → Color swatch.
  2. Set the Label, such as “Blanket color”.
  3. Link it to the appropriate Shopify option or add your own values for a manual choice.
  4. Review each value’s color, the swatch shape and the Default value. Use meaningful names as well as colors.
  5. Save and Preview the selector alongside the matching product photos.

Frequent uses

Use solid swatches for plain garment colors, thread colors or other choices where a single color communicates the option well.

For patterned fabric, wood grain or leather texture, use Image swatch with a Swatch palette so shoppers see a material sample.

Check before publishing

Verify the colors instead of relying on a name to convey the exact shade. Keep readable labels, especially for similar colors. When reusing the template, review the colors and photo mappings for the new product’s option values.

A manual color choice does not automatically recolor other artwork or create a new product photo.
